Privacy Policy
Overview
This Privacy Policy explains what information runback collects through this website and waitlist, why we collect it, and how we handle it. It applies to the runback landing page and waitlist form, not to the app itself, which will have its own privacy documentation before launch. If you have questions after reading this, contact us at the email in the Contact section below.
What we collect
When you join the waitlist, we collect your email address, your country (detected automatically from your connection), a crew code we generate for you, any referral crew code you used to sign up, the timestamp of your consent to receive emails, and the date your signup was created. We do not collect your name, phone number, or any other personal details through this form.
Why we collect it
We use this information for three purposes: to notify you when runback launches, to manage early-access invites as we roll out the app crew by crew, and to power the crew mechanic that lets you and the friends you invite move up the waitlist together. We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it to third parties.
Our legal basis
We collect and use your information because you asked us to, by submitting the waitlist form and agreeing to receive updates. Where privacy law requires a specific legal basis, we rely on your consent for marketing emails and on our legitimate interest in operating the waitlist and preventing abuse of the signup form. You can withdraw consent at any time, as described in the Your rights section below.
Analytics and cookies
We use PostHog, a product analytics tool, to understand how visitors use this site so we can improve it. PostHog data is processed in [PostHog cloud region: pending owner decision, spec §11.6]. We do not use advertising trackers of any kind, and PostHog is the only analytics tool active on this site. You can block analytics cookies in your browser settings without affecting your ability to join the waitlist.
Where your data is stored
Waitlist signups are stored in a Supabase database. The Supabase project for runback is hosted in [Supabase region: fill from the project dashboard at deploy]. Access to this database is restricted to the founder and cofounder, and no code running in your browser can read or write the waitlist table directly.
Who we share data with
We share waitlist data only with the service providers that help us run this site: Supabase for storage, PostHog for analytics, and Vercel for hosting. These providers act as processors on our behalf and are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes. We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
How long we keep it
We keep waitlist information until public launch plus twelve months. After that period, any signup that never converted into an active app account is deleted. If you ask us to delete your information sooner, we will do so, as described below.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the information we hold about you at any time by emailing the support address in the Contact section. We will process these requests as quickly as we reasonably can. Every email we send also includes an unsubscribe link, so you can stop receiving updates whenever you like.
Children's privacy
runback is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect waitlist signups or any other information from children. If we learn that we have collected information from someone under 18, we will delete it. A parent or guardian who believes a child has joined the waitlist should contact us using the details below.
Contact and PIPEDA
For any privacy questions, requests, or concerns, contact us at hello@runback.io. As a Canada-based company, we aim to handle your personal information consistent with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). This Privacy Policy is a draft and will be reviewed by counsel before this site accepts signups from the public at scale.
